Reply strongly believes developer and user communities play a very important role for the growth and the development of Mobile
Services.
In order to create a Mobile Services offer ecosystem, Reply has planned a release roadmap to open GAIA Reply™, its proprietary
Mobile Service Platform, to aggregate developers, content providers, device manufacturers, system integrators and end users.
Since mobile devices have different capabilities and characteristics, one of the key features of GAIA Reply™ is Content
Adaptation: this feature is meant to transform multimedia contents, providing an usable format to visualize them at best.
GAIA Image Transcoder is one of its main components that, inside the platform, implements and offers content adaptation
functionalities.
For this reasons Reply chose GAIA Image Transcoder to
be released as the first Open Source GAIA component.
The Open Source release of GAIA platform happens according to a phased plan: the first GAIA component released is GAIA Image Transcoder, for Content Adaptation functionalities. It is meant to face mobile devices different characteristics and capabilities, providing an usable format to visualize them at best.
