Reply defined the GAIA Roadmap through the second half of 2007 with the long term goal to release a complete, fully featured
version of GAIA Reply™ as Open Source Software.
Reply selected the next components that will be published according to the feedbacks received after the release of the GAIA
Image Transcoder. The two major developments that will be developed during the next six months with the support of the community
will be of interest for all the mobile service developers.
The first step of this evolution is called GaWis (GAIA Web Information System): the scope of this development is the implementation
of an information system that will simplify the interaction with WURFL, UAProf and any other device capabilities information
source, exploiting the functionalities of database technology.
The second step of the roadmap will see the implementation of a Transcoder Server (TS) compliant with OMA STI standard. The
transcoding server will let you transform images, videos and audioclips too. The server will response to SOAP-RPC calls.

The Open Source release of GAIA platform happens according to a phased plan: the first GAIA component released is GAIA Image Transcoder, for Content Adaptation functionalities. It is meant to face mobile devices different characteristics and capabilities, providing an usable format to visualize them at best.
