Reply is proud to announce the release of the final version of GaWis (GAIA Web Information System).
GaWis is an information system, based on database technologies, that allows merging data from heterogeneous standard sources
(such as UAProfs or WURFL files) and also from users' inputs. GaWis features let you create, manage and use a customizable
information source that maintains device capabilities.
GaWis is a key element of GAIA as its capability to support and integrate different device DBs let you create mobile services
that can be delivered to as much devices as possible.
Reply is releasing GaWis as open source software because the mobile device DB topic is a largely debated issue, as W3C started
a dedicated working group, and GaWis can be a useful tool for all mobile developers.
GaWis is based on an innovative design and technologies; its architecture and APIs are flexible enough to be compliant with
current (WURFL, UAProf) and future standards (W3C DDR APIs).
The final version adds a set of features to the previously released version of GaWis; among these the most relevant are the
GaWis APIs available as web services and the export functionality from GaWis DB to WURFL or UAProf format.
More details can be found on the GaWis project site.
